Travis Kelce Shares Update on Patrick Mahomes’ Season After Injury

Travis Kelce Weighs in on Patrick Mahomes’ Kansas City Chiefs Season After ACL Tear

Patrick Mahomes is the chief of hard work.

Five months after he tore both the ACL and LCL in his left leg during an NFL game, prompting him to miss the rest of the 2025-2026 season, his teammate Travis Kelce teased whether the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback will return to the field by their season opener in September.

“That man’s working his ass off,” the tight end—who is preparing for his wedding with Taylor Swift—said on the May 20 episode of his New Heights podcast. “I know that.”

Meanwhile, Travis’ cohost Jason Kelce said his brother’s insight didn’t “confirm or deny the possibility” of Patrick’s return and described his vagueness as a “corporate answer.”

It’s true that no one from Chiefs nation has provided a definitive answer on whether the three-time Super Bowl champ—dad to Sterling, 5, Bronze, 3, and Golden, 16 months, with wife Brittany Mahomes—will step onto the field in four months, though a recent video of him swinging a golf club inspired optimism in football fans.

Plus, the team’s general manager Brett Veach has spoken positively about Patrick’s recovery.
