RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars season 11 almost featured a different queen in the purple bracket!
Utica, from RuPaul’s Drag Race season 13, was originally supposed to be a contestant on the current season of All Stars but had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts.
The queen who replaced her was also just revealed to be advancing to the semi-finals!
Why Utica had to drop out of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 11
“I really did try to make it happen, but unfortunately it just wasn’t possible in the end because of Project Runway interviews leading up to the season,” Utica told Entertainment Weekly. “Filming of All Stars was right after filming of Project Runway and before the airing of [Project Runway]. I was originally casted with Joey [Jay] as sisters [from season 13], but Sam Star took my spot last minute.”
“It would’ve been a hell of a turnaround to make it happen, but I’m very much enjoying watching this season and being there for my sisters along the way!” Utica added.
If you recall, Utica, whose real name is Ethan Mundt, competed on Project Runway season 21. The season aired last summer, and Ethan was a runner-up alongside Jesus Estrada.
All Stars 11 purple bracket queens react to Utica dropping out
Jasmine Kennedie, who has advanced to the semi-finals, confirmed Utica was the one who dropped out, and says she was relieved.
“I’m going to be honest, I was so happy I found she dropped out because I wouldn’t have advanced if she was there,” Jasmine told EW. “I wouldn’t have been in the top of the sewing [challenge].”
“You would not have won that first [sewing challenge],” Shuga Cain echoed.
Who has advanced to the semi-finals on All Stars 11?
After Friday’s (June 26) episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars season 11, it was revealed that the following queens have advanced to the semi-finals: A’keria C Davenport and Dawn for the orange bracket, Crystal Methyd and Silky Nutmeg Ganache for the pink bracket, and Jasmine Kennedie, Kennedy Davenport, and Sam Star for the purple bracket.
At the end of the episode, it was revealed that Morgan McMichaels, Salina EsTitties and Joey Jay were entered into the wild card for a final spot in the semi-finals. The queen who wins that spot will be revealed next week, on Friday (July 3)!
