The skincare brand Neutrogena is speaking out about the death of Hayden Panettiere.
If you don’t know, Hayden detailed what happened between her and the brand in her book, “This Is Me: A Reckoning.”

What happened between Hayden Panettiere and Neutrogena
After giving birth to her daughter Kaya in 2014, Hayden spoke out about postpartum depression on Live! in 2015, revealing her struggle to the world.
She said in 2015: “She went through that, which is something that I can very much relate to, and something that I know a lot of women experience. When [you’re told] about postpartum depression you think it’s ‘I feel negative feelings towards my child, I want to injure or hurt my child.’ I’ve never, ever had those feelings. It’s something, I think, that needs to be talked about, and women need to know that they’re not alone.”
“There’s a lot of misunderstanding. There’s a lot of people out there that think that it’s not real, that it’s not true. That it’s something that’s made up in their minds, that, ‘Oh, it’s hormones.’ They brush it off. It’s something that’s completely uncontrollable. It’s really painful and it’s really scary and women need a lot of support.”
After she spoke out about her postpartum depression, she says Neutrogena cut ties with her.
“Neutrogena canceled my long-standing contract, and it was yet another blow in a year that had given almost nothing else.”
She added, “I had postpartum depression, and it sucked. I wanted more than anything to get back to that place of happiness, but I didn’t even know where that place was anymore,” she writes.

Neutrogena has now released a statement on Hayden Panettiere’s death
The brand posted the following statement to Instagram.
We are deeply saddened by Hayden Panettiere’s passing. For more than a decade, Hayden was a valued member of our Neutrogena community. We are proud to have partnered with her and understand that we made her feel unsupported during a very difficult time. This is not what Neutrogena stands for or who we want to be.
Hayden’s courage in sharing her challenges helped inspire important conversations and awareness. We are making a significant investment to a long-standing community health partner to help give more women access to the support they need, including care for postpartum depression. We will share more details with this community when plans are in place.
Out of respect for Hayden’s family and loved ones, we did not want to speak out so soon following her passing. Everyone at Neutrogena extends their deepest condolences to Hayden’s family and all who loved her.
