Mason Haynes passed away from a traffic accident earlier this month.
The former longtime bodyguard of Kim Kardashian, Kris Jenner, and more died on July 4th in an accident at age 52, a GoFundMe set up for his family reveals.
“Two days before what would have been his 53rd birthday, Mason’s life was taken far too soon in a tragic road traffic accident,” the fundraiser reads. “He leaves behind his devoted wife Fay, his daughter Brooke, his son Noah, a loving family, and an extraordinary circle of friends spread across the world.”
The fundraising campaign hails Mason as “one of those rare, exceptional people,” saying he “made people feel welcome from the moment they met him,” and “a man who would cross countries to help a friend.”
Mason was also remembered as someone “who never let a loved one down and who saw the deep qualities in people that others often overlooked,” adding he was “a protector. A mentor. A prankster. A giant in every sense of the word, with an even bigger heart.”
Those who started the GoFundMe shared that the funds raised will go to his family, and “will ensure Mason gets the send-off he truly deserves – a celebration of a life that touched so many people. Beyond that, they will help ease some of the immediate financial pressures that inevitably follows such a sudden and devastating loss. Your support will give Fay and their family the time and space to grieve, heal and begin rebuilding their lives, without Fay having to make impossible decisions that she could never have imagined she would have to face.”
Mason‘s employer, Trojan Security UK, honored him on Instagram, writing, “We would like to pay homage to an absolute legend in the Close Protection game. Big Mason. Gone too soon. Rest easy and fly high Brother”
Throughout his career, Mason served as a bodyguard for Kardashian-Jenner family members Kim, Kris, and Kendall, as well as Kanye West, Lewis Hamilton, Charlie Puth, Kevin Hart, and Nicki Minaj.
In a 2018 interview, Mason said he got into the job after looking for a part-time job while going to school in his 20s.
“I then found a full-time job in Scorpion Security, who were the security company hired by Café De Paris in London, among others,” he told London Now. “Because there were a number of celebrity patrons, I started doing what you might call ‘close protection’, which became permanent contracts with several celebrities.”
He was also part of Kim‘s security team at the time of her 2016 Paris robbery.
“I can’t go into much detail about that, I was part of that team, and that incident was simply a set of unfortunate circumstances which led to something bad happening,” he told London Now.
Our thoughts go to Mason Haynes‘ family and loved ones during this difficult time. RIP.
