Jaafar Jackson has booked his next movie role!
After breaking box office records as his late uncle, King of Pop Michael Jackson, in the Michael biopic, Deadline announced on Monday (August 3) that the 30-year-old actor will be starring in the new action thriller movie Supermax from Amazon MGM Studios and Miramax.
He joins previously announced stars Will Smith and AnnaSophia Robb.
As of right now, Jaafar‘s character details are being kept under wraps, “but it’s said to be pivotal to the film’s central plot, revolving around two FBI agents (Smith & Robb) investigating a seemingly impossible murder within the impenetrable walls of a maximum-security prison.”
David Gordon Green is directing Supermax from a script by David Weil and David J. Rosen. This movie, said to start production in the middle of August, is reportedly heading to streaming, as opposed to a theatrical release.
Jaafar‘s casting in Supermax comes just weeks after Michael made history as the first biopic to cross the $1 billion mark at the global box office.
A sequel to the smash-hit movie is in the works and Lionsgate’s main executive has revealed some details about what fans can expect.
The first movie in the Michael franchise charts the beginning of his career as a child singer in The Jackson 5 and eventually launching a solo career, much to the dismay of his father. The movie ends just as he is reaching the height of his career and there’s lots of his life that can still be explored. Find out what may happen in the sequel.
