Kathryn Gallagher is back with new music after taking some time off from releasing original songs.
The Grammy-winning singer, best known for starring in Broadway shows like Jagged Little Pill and Spring Awakening, has dropped her new single “Stella.”
In a statement to JustJared.com, Kathryn said, “‘Stella’ is about an alternate fantasy version of my life where I cut off all my hair and move to the woods. Sometimes you have to start all over to realize what you really care about and what really makes you happy.”
Kathryn wrote the song with Ella Vos last year in the living room of her parents’ home in New York and then recorded it in Los Angeles last summer. She self-directed the music video, which was filmed in November 2025.
“making music is so fun i really hope you like it <3,” she wrote on Instagram.
In addition to her work on Broadway, you’ll recognize Kathryn from her roles on the TV shows You and Gossip Girl, plus the movies Woman of the Hour and Parachute.
Kathryn actually recorded a song for the movie Woman of the Hour!
