Flavor Flav has officially received approval for the upcoming SHE Weekend in Las Vegas after presenting the idea at a Clark County Commission meeting.
The hip-hop legend previously made headlines when he invited all medal-winning athletes from the US Women’s Olympic Team to join him for a celebratory weekend in Las Vegas in summer 2026. The idea for the Vegas celebration happened after Trump joked about feeling obligated to invite the women’s hockey team to the White House, an invite that they declined. He begrudgingly said that he’d “probably be impeached” if he didn’t invite the women alongside the men.
It started as a tweet and now it’s a movement.
SHE Weekend, representing “Sports, Hospitality, & Entertainment,” is a celebration of female champions in sports. More than 100 Olympians are expected to attend the four-day event in Las Vegas, which will begin with a parade down the strip on Thursday, July 16, leading to a free concert on Toshiba Plaza.
Flav attended the Clark County Commission meeting on Tuesday (May 19) to receive approval for the parade and outdoor concert. Thanks to the board’s unanimous vote, Vegas will shut down the Las Vegas Strip for the free public parade and concert.
“I just want to say thank you for giving me the opportunity and I’m honored, you know what I’m saying, to be able to bring these United States Olympic athletes here to Las Vegas. I am a girl dad and I am a big supporter of women’s sports,” Flav told the board. They hilariously had to interrupt him to ask for his name, even though they knew it, just so that it was on the record.
The Public Enemy rapper added, “Oh, I’m sorry! My name is Flavor Flav. William Drayton a.k.a. Flavor Flav. I’m sorry, guys.”
In celebration of the board’s approval, Flav has launched new branding courtesy of brand agency 72andSunny. The rapper confirmed on social media that the agency volunteered their services for SHE Weekend.
The weekend is being made possible thanks to support from sponsors. MGM Resorts has offered complimentary rooms, hospitality and entertainment. Delta Airlines, the official airline of TeamUSA, has offered to cover flights. And the event is produced by Joe Lewis Company, the same production company that produces the Grammys and Oscars.
It was previously announced that both the Backstreet Boys and Ed Sheeran invited the athletes out to their Vegas shows with private meet and greet.
