EGOT Winner Viola Davis Sets TV Return with Paramount+ Thriller Series ‘Ascent’

Viola Davis is returning to television!

The EGOT winner is set to star in the upcoming thriller series Ascent for Paramount+ and she’s also going to be an executive producer on the project.

Paramount+ announced that Ascent is a character-driven thriller set in the dangerous world of global corporate crisis and damage control. Davis will play elite corporate fixer Catriona Vail, who must weaponize the ruthless skills that have made her indispensable to billion-dollar clients when her estranged daughter is in danger.

Three-time Oscar nominee John Logan will serve as showrunner. He’s best known for creating the series Penny Dreadful, as well writing movies like Gladiator, The Aviator, Skyfall, and Michael.

We are ready to create magic!” Viola said in a statement.

Also serving as executive producers are Penny Dreadful: City of AngelsMichael Aguilar and Viola‘s husband and creative partner, Julius Tennon.

The series will shoot on the Paramount Lot in Los Angeles and it will premiere globally exclusively on Paramount+.

Viola previously won an Emmy for her work in the ABC series How to Get Away with Murder, which ran from 2014 to 2020. She also starred in the 2022 limited series The First Lady for Showtime.
