Trump Provides Worrying Timeline When Asked About Lowering Gas Prices amid His War in Iran | Donald Trump, Politics | Celebrity News and Gossip | Entertainment, Photos and Videos

Donald Trump did not have a reassuring answer when asked about how long he thinks it’ll take gas prices to drop down again amid his ongoing fighting with Iran.

On Sunday (April 12), the 79-year-old president appeared on Fox Business for an interview with Maria Bartiromo on Sunday Morning Futures.

During their conversation, Bartiromo asked Trump if Americans could expect to see some relief when filling up their tanks at the gas station anytime soon. More specifically, she provided a timeline, asking if prices would have dropped by the midterm elections in November.

“I hope so. I mean, I think so, it could be, it could be, or the same or maybe a little bit higher, but it should be around the same,” Trump admitted.

He continued, adding, “I think this won’t be that much longer. They’re wiped out, Maria, they’re wiped out.”

Trump alleged that he wasn’t getting “a fair shake” over the gas prices, which have skyrocketed since he launched his war against Iran in late February. He appeared to blame the issue on the press, calling for a “free and fair press.”

The president, who frequently complained about gas prices while America was being led by Democrats, has taken a blunt stance on rising oil costs under his second term.

In early March, he told Reuters that he “[didn’t] have any concern about [rising gas costs,” elaborating to add, “They’ll drop very rapidly when this is over, and if they rise, they rise, but this is far more important than having gasoline prices go up a little bit.”

He later referred to critics and those concerned about rising prices as “fools,” saying that it was worth it to pay higher prices at the pump if Iran was unable to create a nuclear weapon.

Trump went on to allude to the one thing he needed to do to get gas prices to drop back down. However, the situation with Iran is intensifying again after failed peace talks.

On Sunday, he revealed plans to implement a naval blockade against Iran on the Strait or Hormuz, which is a key path oil travels on to enter the world market.
