“When I was asked to host @thetonyawards, my first question was — don’t you need to have been on Broadway for this? So I went ahead and fixed that. Kind of. And now I’m hosting the Tony Awards!!” she shared in a statement on social media.
“The Broadway community is the hardest working in showbiz. They show up every single night, sometimes twice, and make absolute magic. I cannot wait to celebrate them all with you on Sunday June 7th on CBS. (Special thanks to the team at @bwaygatsby for letting me share the stage, even just for a moment.),” Pink continued.
Previous hosts have included Cynthia Erivo, Ariana DeBose, Audra McDonald, Sara Bareilles, Josh Groban and James Corden.
The awards ceremony will be held at Radio City Music Hall and air live on CBS and streaming on Paramount+ starting 8 p.m. ET on Sunday, June 7, with nominations set to be revealed on May 5.
Although she has never been on Broadway, two of Pink‘s songs are currently performed in Broadway musicals: “Raise Your Glass” in Moulin Rouge! The Musical and “F*ckin’ Perfect” in & Juliet.
