Assassin’s Creed has started production!
Based on the popular video game, Netflix just announced on Friday (March 20) that filming has begun on the upcoming TV adaptation in Rome, Italy, where the show will be set.
While it was known the show would be set there, the streamer has also revealed the original story will be set in Rome 64 AD. Filming is mostly taking place at Cinecittà Studios, with the production “expanding upon the established Ancient Rome back lot to immerse filming in this time period.”
Assassin’s Creed, which was greenlit last summer, is described as “a high-octane thriller centered on the secret war between two shadowy factions — one set on determining mankind’s future through control and manipulation, while the other fights to preserve free will. The series follows its characters across pivotal historical events as they battle to shape humanity’s destiny.”
