Amazon’s ‘James Bond’ Deal Cost Only $20 Million — Way Less Than Expected | Amazon, James Bond | Celebrity News and Gossip | Entertainment, Photos and Videos

Amazon MGM Studios paid for creative control over the James Bond franchise earlier this year. A new financial report suggests they didn’t spend nearly as much as people expected.

The deal, made with longtime producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, established a joint venture that keeps all three parties as co-owners of the brand.

The figure has raised eyebrows since an earlier report suggested the agreement could be worth up to $1 billion. The exact terms haven’t been made public, but it’s believed there could be additional stock or profit-sharing elements behind the scenes.

Amazon’s move comes after its $8.5 billion purchase of MGM in 2021, which gave the company rights to distribute James Bond films but not creative input, until this past February when the deal was completed.

The next installment is in development with Dune director Denis Villeneuve attached, but we still don’t know who will take over for Daniel Craig as the titular character.
