Jelly Roll is doubling down on his recent jokes about Donald Trump.
During his first night as guest host of Jimmy Kimmel Live! earlier this week, the 41-year-old Grammy-winning country music singer cracked a few jokes about the 80-year-old president’s weight.
After facing backlash for his jokes, during his Tuesday night (August 25) monologue, Jelly Roll responded to the criticism, and doubled down on his jokes at the president’s expense.
Jelly Roll began by saying that “as a former felon” and “drug dealer who has lost 300 pounds” with “tattoos all over his face,” this was “the weirdest thing I’ve ever done to stun people” thus far.
“What a turn of events! Who would’ve guessed I’d get in more trouble with the president than Rosie O’Donnell?” he quipped, making a reference to last week’s guest host. He added, “I love you, Rosie. Thanks for having my back today, baby.”

He went on to acknowledge that “some folks online were upset” that he didn’t “treat the president with reverence and dignity,” to which he responded, “But I want to remind y’all that I go by the name Jelly Roll. I don’t even treat myself with reverence and dignity.”
Jelly Roll joked that he believed people were equally surprised to discover that he has any opinions of his own at all.
“They see a guy like me and assume the only opinion I have is whether I prefer my meth crystal or classic,” he teased.
On a more serious note, Jelly Roll asked the audience, “Now let’s be honest for a second, any U.S. president should be able to handle a few jokes, right?”
“They should also be able to handle gas prices, health care, and the occasional international conflict, but beggars can’t be choosers,” he continued. “So for those who threatened to stop listening to my music based on my comments last night, I just want to say with conviction: Go right ahead, because I’m gonna keep speaking my truth or my name isn’t Post Malone.”
Jelly Roll then went on to mock Trump amid his ongoing trade war with Canada.
“I got an idea. I say we let them fight it out: Donald Trump vs. all of Canada, like the end of Gladiator,” he teased. “Put your swords down. Nobody helps. Just the president against 31 million hockey goons on the White House lawn. We’ll call it Maple Mayhem.”
As of right now, Trump hasn’t publicly addressed Jelly Roll‘s jokes about him.
