Serena Williams and Carlos Alcaraz teamed up for the mixed doubles championship at the US Open Fan Week on Tuesday (August 25).
The two tennis greats played together in two rounds that day at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, NY.

In the first round, Serena and Carlos played against Erin Routliffe and Lloyd Glasspool, where they defeated the pair 5-3, 4-1.
“I never expected to be back on this court,” Serena said after the match, via ESPN. “I never thought this would happen.”
That same day, Serena and Carlos returned to the court to play against Belinda Bencic and Flavio Cobolli in the quarter-final. They lost to Belinda and Flavio 5-4 (4), 4-1.

This marked Serena‘s first time back playing at Flushing Meadows since 2022.
Earlier this summer, she announced her return to tennis, with her first competition at the Queen’s Club Championships in London.
Back in May, Carlos dropped out of Wimbledon due to an ongoing wrist injury. He also withdrew from the Rome Open and the French Open before that. This marked his first return to the sport since the Monte-Carlo Masters in April.
If you didn’t know, Serena previously won the mixed doubles at the US Open back in 1998, and her last win at the tournament was the singles in 2014.
Carlos last won the US Open singles in 2025, defeating Jannik Sinner, clinching his sixth Grand Slam title!
