Tom Selleck is returning to television!
The 81-year-old actor hasn’t been seen in a project since the end of his CBS series Blue Bloods in 2024.
Tom is best known for playing New York City Police Commissioner Frank Reagan on the long-running series, as well as his roles as Thomas Magnum on Magnum P.I. and Dr. Richard Burke on Friends.

Tom has joined an upcoming untitled Apple TV comedy series in a guest starring role, joining Elizabeth Banks, Ted Danson, Rob Delaney, and Katey Sagal.
Deadline reports that the show “follows Heidi (Banks), who is fresh off a messy divorce and sets out to secure a lively second act for herself and her kids. But when she stumbles into coordinating her father’s (Danson) retirement community sexcapades, Heidi is forced into an unlikely alliance with his girlfriend’s perpetually single son.”
Details about Tom‘s character are not known as of this time. The show is being created by Will Trent showrunner Liz Heldens and Madam Secretary co-executive producer Matt Ward.
Tom never wanted Blue Bloods to end
Tom previously revealed that he was upset over the cancellation of Blue Bloods.
“It was very frustrating because Blue Bloods was, out of the top 100 shows on broadcast television, Blue Bloods was No. 6 in our 15th year,” Selleck said on Ted Danson‘s podcast. “Nobody wanted to leave, everybody was gonna stay on. That’s hard to get.”
He has revealed some insider salary info on the canceled show.
