’90 Day Fiancé’: Paula’s famiy expresses fear over Thomas’ ‘crazy’ behavior

Thomas’ peculiar way of living drives Paula’s family to worry about her decision to marry him on Sunday’s episode of “90 Day Fiancé” Season 12.

Thomas, 31, and Paula, 41, are set to get married in just eight days and her family land from Brazil in anticipation of the big day. Their arrival comes after the couple fought during last week’s episode over Paula wanting her eight family members to stay in their small apartment in Long Beach, California, and the living situation quickly becomes tense.

Thomas is extremely particular about his apartment, wants to spend the least amount of money as possible and, above all, can’t stand the smell of perfume and deodorant — which he and Paula have argued over all season.

“I’m a very sensitive man for little smells,” he tells her family, laying down the rules. “Please, you can’t use perfumes in the apartment. For example, no perfumes in soap.”

Paula’s family reacts in confusion and asks if baby soap is OK, which he acquiesces to. Her parents tells cameras that Thomas behavior and culture is “complicated” to them.

“We don’t have rules in our house for people,” her mom notes. “We try to please our guest.”

The family also isn’t amused at Thomas proudly declaring he doesn’t own a TV, and that he spent “zero dollars” ahead of them staying at his apartment.

Paula’s brother, Aldir, tells cameras, “Sometimes I worry about how he acts, and some quirks he has,” while his wife, Gizelle, bluntly calls Thomas “annoying.”

Aldir adds, “He’s crazy.”

Paula admits to cameras she’s embarrassed over Thomas not compromising with her at all, as well as his behavior towards her family.

“I just have one week to figure out if I will be happy, if Thomas will be happy, or if all this wedding stuff is a huge mistake,” she muses.

Later, the two have a public fight over Thomas leaving steak in his fridge that’s two years old. Aldir notes that his fridge is full of spoiled food, while Paula — who’s vegan — gets upset and says Thomas wasting food is bad for the environment. Thomas yells at her as a result, explaining that left the steak in the fridge by accident because he was called on a sudden work trip.

Aldir reflects that Thomas “complains about a pin and doesn’t complain about an elephant,” meaning he worries about the wrong things.

“The things that should have a big impact on his life, he doesn’t care,” he observes. “But he complains about a suitcase on a mattress.”

Later, Aldir has a heart-to-heart conversation with his sister, expressing his doubts about her decision to marry Thomas. Paula admits that she has a calling to live in the US, but doesn’t necessarily think Thomas is the reason for it.

“Thomas is a gift from the universe, but that doesn’t mean that he is my universe,” she explains. “So I want to be happy in this relationship, but I can’t be happy with him if I’m not happy with myself.”

Aldir later tells Paula he worries that she and Thomas are not compatible and that she will regret marrying him. TLC

Aldir tells her he’s worried that she and Thomas can’t overcome their differences — calling his behavior “childish” — and reminds her that she has a solid life in Brazil, where she’s a businesswoman.

Aldir’s worries do have an affect on Paula, who now doesn’t know if she wants to marry Thomas or not.

“Thomas and I, we have so many things going on that I’m really don’t know if I’m going to say yes,” she tells cameras. “I love him, but not enough to sign for a life of being not happy.”

“90 Day Fiancé” airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET on TLC.
