Casting for season two of Heated Rivalry confirms that the show will cover some of the story from the “Role Model” book in the Game Changers series.
It has been confirmed that the characters Harris Drover and Troy Barrett will be featured in season two of the Crave and HBO Max series. Season two of Heated Rivalry will mainly adapt Rachel Reid‘s book “The Long Game,” while also introducing the characters from “Role Model.”
Heated Rivalry series creator Jacob Tierney and exec producer Brendan Brady said in a statement together, “Rachel Reid has given us two beautifully layered characters in Harris and Troy who you can’t help but root for. From the start of the casting process, we knew we were looking for actors who could create something truly special together and bring that same depth and heart to the screen.”
Justice Smith as Harris Drover
Justice Smith, 30, will be playing social media manager Harris Drover in Heated Rivalry.
In the book “Role Model,” Harris is the main character and works for the Ottawa Centaurs, giving the team a boost on social media. He falls for the team’s player Troy Barrett.
Justice is best known for his work in movies like I Saw the TV Glow, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, and Now You See Me: Now You Don’t.
Charlie Gillespie as Troy Barrett
Charlie Gillespie will be playing Ottawa Centaurs forward Troy Barrett, who has a history of being a bully and is going through a breakup with his boyfriend when he falls for Harris.
Charlie, 27, is best known for his work in the Netflix movie musical Julie and the Phantoms. He was also seen in the recent movie Splitsville with Dakota Johnson.
“From the start of the casting process, we knew we were looking for actors who could create something truly special together and bring that same depth and heart to the screen. Justice and Charlie do exactly that,” the two TV execs said. “They immediately connected with the vulnerability and resilience at the core of these characters, bringing an instinctive understanding of who Harris and Troy are.”
Season two is premiering in Spring 2027
Deadline confirms that the second season will air in Spring 2027.
