Jerry O’Connell is addressing how his split with Giuliana Rancic went down years ago.
The 52-year-old Sliders alum appeared on SiriusXM’s Let’s Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa, recorded in front of a live audience at SiriusXM’s NYC Fishbowl.
During the conversation, Jerry reflected on his romance with the 50-year-old former E! News co-anchor. The couple reportedly dated from 2003 to 2004, and she alleged in later years that he cheated on her and broke up with her via intercom.
“Someone was inside of my condominium,” Jerry said when asked about the alleged breakup incident.
“Giuliana Rancic wanted entry into my condominium. Thank goodness, buzzer, gate, security. I paid a pretty hefty homeowners fee for these things. Cameras and everything. And I said, ‘I did not know you were coming. You can’t come here unannounced.’ Notice no one had a key, so the relationship was not like that,” he explained.
“But that was why I didn’t like someone coming to my condominium…without an invite or even a text or even a phone call. ‘Hey, at the farmers market. Thought I’d stop by. Got some fresh cut flowers.’ There was no warning, and I didn’t want someone coming in- Because I didn’t want any confrontation.”
“Back to the quote. But did you say, ‘Nope, sorry, homegirl. Things change, but you take care, okay?’” Kelly asked, referring to Giuliana‘s memoir, Going Off Script, which alleged that he refused to buzz her up and said that line to her.
“I don’t recall exact wording,” Jerry said. “I don’t recall exact wording, so I can’t deny that I said that.”
“It doesn’t sound like something I would say, but again, if I was writing a memoir, it made for a good quote, so you know what? I’m gonna applaud Giuliana for using colorful dialogue and everything,” he added. Listen to the podcast episode above.
