Obsession is heading to Peacock!
It has been announced that the hit indie horror movie, written and directed by Curry Barker in his directorial debut, will be available for streaming on Peacock starting on Friday, July 17.
The movie, which first hit theaters in May, “follows Bear (Michael Johnston), a hopeless romantic afraid to admit his crush for co-worker Nikki (Inde Navarrette). After making a wish for Nikki to love him more than anything else in the world, Nikki suddenly becomes dangerously obsessed with Bear. The consequences for everyone involved, as in true horror fashion, prove fatal.”
Obsession‘s digital release date was actually delayed due to how successful it proved to be in theaters. After eight weeks at the box office, Obsession has just become the highest-grossing film before inflation adjustment with a maximum production project of $1 million, TheWrap reports.
The film reportedly cost $750,000 to make.
Previously, Bruce Lee‘s 1973 classic Enter the Dragon held the record. That film was made for $850,000, grossing $400 million worldwide, which would be nearly $2 billion when adjusted for inflation.
Obsession defied the odds, increasing its tally at the box office week after week, and joined Sinners as the only original film since 2018 to make over $200 million at the domestic box office. It’s now the seventh highest-grossing film of 2026.
Breakout star Inde Navarrette revealed what she was doing for work before taking on the role. She also revealed the “freaky” connection she had to the movie before even getting the job.
