Peter Sarsgaard has just been announced to have a new television role!

The 55-year-old actor was revealed to be joining the cast of the upcoming third season of The Last of Us, according to Deadline.

Peter is taking on a brand new role for the series adaptation, playing Amon, a leader of The Seraphites.

The actor’s casting news comes as filming on the show goes in a planned hiatus.

The Last of Us films in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and the break is due to the city being one of the hosts of the FIFA World Cup. They are set to host seven games, with the first being on Saturday (June 13) and the last on July 7th.

Filming will pick up in around a month’s time and is reportedly scheduled to continue through the end of the year, with a premiere set for 2027.

Peter is just the latest new casting addition for the hit HBO adaptation of the popular video games.

Back in April, we learned Sinners star Li Jun Li has also joined the cast, as one of the Seraphites.

There are several more new additions, with three actors being promoted to series regular for season three.

Peter recently starred in another HBO series DTF St Louis, and he also starred in the recent movie The Bride!, written and directed by his wife Maggie Gyllenhaal.
