Hafthor Julius Bjornsson, best known as the World’s Strongest Man and for playing “The Mountain” on Game of Thrones, fell short in his world record attempt at the 2026 Enhanced Games.

Bjornsson attempted to do a 515 kg deadlift at the Enhanced Games to beat his own record, but he fell short in the attempt. The competition took place at Resorts World on Sunday (May 24) in Las Vegas.

What are the Enhanced Games?
The Enhanced Games is billed as a “new global sports competition where elite athletes push the limits of human performance.”
Enhanced believes in an objective, evidence-based approach to competition, one that celebrates athletic excellence and unlocks athletes’ full potential. The Enhanced Games is not only creating a sporting event that is thrilling for spectators but also a beacon for scienti?c transparency and athlete welfare. By putting athletes ?rst, it gives them the opportunity to reach their full potential and be compensated accordingly, all while ensuring their safety through rigorous medical supervision and scienti?c oversight.

The athlete shared a video of his failed attempt and commented on what happened.
