Drew Carey goes on foul-mouthed rant about Spencer Pratt’s LA mayoral run

Drew Carey blasted Spencer Pratt as a “serial scammer” amid the reality star’s campaign to be the next mayor of Los Angeles.

The comedian, 68, took to Threads to slam those voting for Pratt in the upcoming election. Pratt, 42, has become a serious contender to unseat incumbent Mayor Karen Bass.

“Anyone who votes for, or endorses Spencer Pratt for Mayor of LA needs to get their head out of their ass,” he wrote. “I understand being angry/unsatisfied, but at least get behind someone competent and not some serial scammer without a soul or moral compass.”

He added, “F–k this guy already.”

The comedian called the “Hills” alum a “serial scammer.”

Carey’s message received both criticism and support. One commentator agreed with him, writing, “Thank you Drew, I can’t believe people want this man as mayor of one of the biggest cities in our country.”

But one comment read, “Name all your competent leaders in Los Angeles right now and their accomplishments.”

Carey isn’t the only celebrity who has voiced their opposition to Pratt becoming Mayor of LA. Chrishell Stause also took to Threads last month, writing,  “Can I please implore NO MORE reality star politicians PLEASE! I have nothing against Spencer! In fact I like him on TV! NOT in the government tho😩

CA please pull it together🙏🏼 .”

Stause also called out Katharine McPhee after the singer and her husband, David Foster, threw a fundraiser for Pratt at their Brentwood Park home in LA earlier this month.

The “Selling Sunset” alum commented on a TikTok video from influencer Jordy Cray, which detailed McPhee’s dating history — including her 2013 cheating scandal, when she was snapped kissing her “Smash” director, Michael Morris, while still married to her now ex-husband, Nick Cokas. Morris was also married at the time to Broadway star Mary McCormack, and the two are still together.

Stause commented on the video, “One day she will find her real inner confidence but it won’t come until after she is disregarded enough times by the problematic men she backs.”

She added, “An insecure woman will steal your man, and give the worst advice.”

McPhee responded to the drama through a comment on E! News’ Instagram post about the situation, when a follower asked what the “American Idol” contestant said in the first place to set Stause off.

“Honestly I have no idea,” McPhee wrote. “I am just as confused about this controversy as you lmao ❤

.”

Meanwhile, Pratt’s campaign continues to gain momentum.

New campaign disclosures show he raised roughly $2.7 million between April 19 and May 15, nearly equaling the approximately $2.8 million Mayor Bass raised since entering the race in 2024, the California Post reported Friday.
