Lizzo is sharing the true meaning behind her Instagram handle name.
The 38-year-old singer and rapper goes by @lizzobeeating on Instagram, though she’s simply @lizzo on Twitter / X.
Lizzo, whose real name is Melissa Jefferson, just replied to a fan who figured out the actual meaning of the handle after always thinking it stood for “lizzo beating.”

“just found out lizzo’s instagram name is lizzo be eating and not lizzo beating,” and X user wrote.
Lizzo replied, “Fun Fact: I started my ig as a food blog when I was broke so I could eat for free but then my music blew up.”
Lizzo is getting ready to release her new album, Bitch.
Lizzo previously coined the phrase “I’m 100% that bitch” on her song “Truth Hurts” and now it’s shaping her new album, which is due out on June 5.
“Reclaiming the word Bitch is power – it’s taking a label once used to diminish women and turning it into a declaration of confidence, and unapologetic self-love,” Lizzo explains of the title. “So many incredible women in music have used the word for positivity like Meredith Brooks and Missy Elliot. It was only fitting to name my album Bitch because it has become my favorite word when using it on my own terms and because I am 100% that bitch!”
