Donald Trump isn’t ready to leave politics behind after he finishes his second term in office, and he’s prepared to lead another country if it’ll let him maintain power.

The 79-year-old Republican has frequently considered what’s next for him after he leaves office in 2029. While he’s teased running for a third or even a fourth term as president, he is constitutionally banned from doing so.

Trump teased a possible political future in Israel.

On Wednesday (May 20), he came up with an alternative option for his second act. Speaking to the press, he alluded to a possible political future in Israel. In fact, he said that he was interested in running to become the country’s prime minister.

“I’m right now at 99% in Israel. I could run for prime minister,” he said. “So maybe, after I do this, I’ll go to Israel and run for prime minister. I had a poll this morning; I’m 99%, so that’s good.”

The current prime minister of Israel is Benjamin Netanyahu. In the same conversation, Trump described his political ally as “a wartime prime minister.” He added, “I just don’t think they treat him well.”

Trump has a much lower approval rating in the U.S.

It’s unclear what poll the president is citing regarding his near-perfect approval rating in Israel. In the U.S., the most recent Times/Siena poll revealed that only 37% of Americans approve of his actions in office. His disapproval rating sits at 59%.

The New York Times noted that his approval rating had dropped four points from the start of the year, the last time that a Times/Siena poll was conducted.

His low rating is in relation to the ongoing war in Iran, which Trump started in late February. The military action against the country resulted in soaring gas prices and inflation.

Despite Americans paying more, the president has consistently said that the costs would go down and argued that it was a worthy cause to suffer high prices to stop Iran from achieving nuclear abilities.

The president has previously teased a political career in Venezuela after he’s done in the U.S.

This isn’t the first time that Trump has toyed with continuing his political career outside of the United States.

In April, he told the press that he had similarly high poll numbers in Venezuela after he executed a military strike on the country that resulted in the detainment of the country’s president Nicolás Maduro.

“So after I’m finished with this, I can go to Venezuela. I will quickly learn Spanish. It won’t take too long; I’m good at language. And I will go to Venezuela. I’m going to run for president,” he said.

More recently, he hinted at another controversial plan for Venezuela.

With his days in office numbered, Trump was recently asked to choose his successor out of a list of three options. See who they were and what he had to say.
