Queen Latifah is set to return as host of the AMAs, over 30 years after she previously co-hosted the event!

The legendary hip-hop performer and actress will serve as host of the 2026 American Music Awards, airing live on Monday, May 25 on CBS.

“I am so excited to return to the American Music Awards stage to host this year,” she said in a statement. “It’s been an incredible year for music and there is no better place to celebrate than in Vegas.”

The event will be held on Memorial Day at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Queen Latifah previously served as a co-host of the 1995 AMAs alongside Tom Jones and Lorrie Morgan. Throughout most of the show’s first 30 years, multiple stars joined forces to co-host the event, but that format was dropped in 2003.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Queen Latifah back as host of the American Music Awards,” said Jay Penske, CEO, Dick Clark Productions. “A true powerhouse and trailblazer, she brings a dynamic presence and deep connection to both fans and fellow artists, making her the perfect choice to lead a night celebrating the biggest names and most defining moments in music.”

Nominations for the AMAs will be announced on April 14 and fan voting will open that same day.
